How to Stop Trend Micro from Scanning?

You must have noticed while performing quick full scan of your Trend Micro program, the device either hangs or stops at certain percentage. You cannot close down the window and the device doesn’t respond when you hit ‘Stop’.

The issue occurs when the device fails in handling the scanning process or stops working. For fixing the issue, you are required to disable Trend Micro program temporarily for at least 30 seconds. Then activate it again. For this, perform the below steps:

  • Turn off the program from system tray:
  1. From the system tray, right click on the antivirus program.
    If you are unable to find the icon, then click on the ‘arrow’ button for looking at the rest of icons.
  2. Choose ‘Exit’ option.
  3. Wait till the Trend Micro’s system tray disappears. The antivirus program will be disabled once the icon doesn’t appear in the system tray.
  4. Wait for next 30 seconds.
  • Activate/ enable the Trend Micro Security:
    Follow the below directions for activating the antivirus security program-
  1. Select how to access the program by following the below steps according to your Windows Operating System.
    Windows 10- Double click on the antivirus icon from your desktop or from system tray.
    Windows 8/ 8.1- Tap on the program from the Windows Start screen.
    Windows 7- Perform either of the following:
  • From desktop or system tray, double click on the antivirus icon.
  • Tap on Start> Programs/ All Programs> Trend Micro and then pick the product accordingly.
2. Run a ‘Scan’ process.
